Superb execution and ingenious concept in this one.

This art piece is an awesome symbolic representation of the current state of [state/private] 'education'.

Philosophers and other wise (or foolish, depends on the perspective) men from ages old and past have long speculated that the only true path to true knowledge, understanding, comprehension and wisdom, is through self-learning and personal research. Everything else is perhaps merely an illusion of 'education', for learning and knowing do not always mean comprehension, understanding, personal creativity and genius, the ability to apply things practically, but also to use your imagination and inspiration from reality, to create new concepts and new representations of them (or variations and spin-offs thereof). ;)

Again, this is merely my interpretation of this piece of art and everyone is entitled to their (his/her) own opinion and perspective...

Oh man, I'm liking the comments here a lot. This piece is most intriguing. I believe someone said those were rabbit ears, but i think those are Donkey ears. And the pinochio noses, could really 'suggest' that the educational system is a lie.

This is the BOMB!! I love how you put the little Micky Mouse on the girls diploma, the checkered floor, the president's nose in a Pinocchio-like fashion, the rabbit ears on the hats. I'm probably missing some things but none the less, I got enough to put the pieces together. This is wicked, I love it.

Sometimes I feel like those empty-headed donkeys that went to school just because it was the "smart thing to do" and because then you'll be able to get a good job and make a good living .. I learned quite a few things - not that I didn't - but surely having a diploma and almost a master's degree didn't provide me a job. The saddest thing about this (for myself) is that I listened to others (not just about education) instead of following my dream and study what I really wanted to.

But, I guess my time will come, it must come - I hope soon.

this is so good. There is so much to say about the education system that you have summed up so nicely here. I see some comments focus on the ability/inability of the individuals depicted but for me they are victims of the education system. Only some go through with their minds still intact, like the one guy on the left. Sooo good thankyou for this art!

Ah! I saw some of the Pinocchio references, with the donkey-eared children and the long nosed buildings. very interesting idea. Maybe it's a statement on the ignorance of people who get college degrees without fully understanding what they're getting themselves into, or that the system is lying to them and saying tat they're qualified to go out in to the real world and work when they really aren't? heh, I'm probably way off and there is probably a lot more to it then that. It is definately a pic with something to say for sure.

Surrealism at its finest, with its roots of painting more of a story than a picture being conspicuously prominent.
Magnificent work!
One of the best I've come across here on DeviantArt through my time here, actually :)

I know a lot of people have asked about the man with the "normal" head, but what about the guy who is throwing his entire head off nearby? Was there a specific intention behind that and other details (like the woman holding a pez dispenser, with a diploma at her feet and a sad expression or the full donkey head), or is everything in the picture for the viewer to interpret in their own way?

Crazy but often true. I have met so many people who had nothing learned in school and graduated. It's funny, but I think the one 'normal' man at the right side could be the only one who knows anything, since he is the only one with a real head.
It's like everyone is happy about the graduation without having ever been able to learn something and the only guy who did learn something is sad to graduate.

My thoughts exactly, and to add to that the academy made up of lies, which presents the certificate of graduation to the undeserving is too well depicted.

I go to college for the degree.
I study through practice and experience to learn. These days with the internet, I don't need an expensive campus to learn all the subjects known to man that make you seem smart. I only need the desire to do something I love and perhaps useful to the human race.
I am not a scientist, English major, archaeologist, or even a history major and I never will be. Why waste time on something I will never use?
Knowing everything is only useful on Jeopardy, knowing exactly what you need to know and being good at it is true genius.
I am a self taught programmer getting his BA in game design, I have never been to any school past 4th grade up to college. Tell me, was high school worth it?

Because of this drive to learn and do something, I made this website by simply wanting to know how, in less than a week: [link] (this is so totally not a plug...totally)

Yeah well that seemed a little corny, but that is what this image says to me.
